Face search & NDPA notice
Policy version italewa-ndpa-v1. Effective 17 September 2026.
Why we ask
Face search is optional. If you agree, your device camera captures a selfie so ITALEWA can try to find photos of you in this event gallery. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA), biometric data is sensitive personal data. We only run the scan after you give consent.
What happens on your phone
Matching is designed to run on the device when AWS Rekognition is not configured. The selfie is used to search that event's photos. We log that you consented, when, and which policy version you saw. We do not keep the selfie as a reusable biometric identity.
Optional AWS processing
Some events may send the selfie to Amazon Rekognition so we can return only photos that contain your face, including group shots. Rekognition stores face records for photos the creative uploaded until that event collection is deleted. Your selfie is used for that search and is not kept as a reusable identity file. This is optional processing for match quality, not a certification claim.
What we do not do
- We do not sell face data.
- We do not build a lasting biometric identity file from the selfie.
- We do not use the selfie for advertising or unrelated profiling.
- We do not share the selfie with other events or other guests.
Event Center highlights
The public Event Center may show a finished night as a highlight: the cover, with faces veiled by a blur on the board. That veil is not face search. It does not run on-device matching, does not reopen the gallery, and does not let anyone save photos. Face search stays inside an open gallery, after consent.
Your choice
You can refuse consent and leave the event page. You can browse public events without scanning. You can withdraw consent by not continuing. To delete photos or ask about a search, email [email protected].
